Fue en 2016, cando reconocidos rostros del espectáculo internacional, iniciaron una significativa campaña a través de redes sociales, usando el hashtag Smear For Smear.
Su propósito, es incentivar a las mujeres a hacerse el exámen para detectar el cáncer cervical o de cuello uterino. Por tercer año consecutivo, esta tendencia ha tomado fuerza.

La campaña consiste en sacarse una fotografía usando el labial corrido, con el propósito de acabar con los tabúes que existen alrededor del exámen preventivo.
Según las estadísticas de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), una de cada tres mujeres de entre 25 y 29 años rechaza practicarse la prueba del Papanicolaou por miedo a saber los resultados.
Cabe señalar que esto patología es uno de los cáncer más comunes en mujeres mayores de 35 años. Sin embargo, se detecta en un 75% por medio del exámen, el cual sólo se realiza 1 de cada 4 mujeres.
Por este motivo, el proyecto en redes sociales ha reunido a mujeres de todo el mundo. Smear for smear, es un juego de palabras, que hace referencia a la Prueba de Papanicolaou y al mismo tiempo, al concepto de a un “labial corrido”.
