But there are other injuries she deals with that are far more complicated and excruciating than her amputated arm. This is just one example. #repost @oliviathebandit “Yup that’s a battery pack implanted in my left bum cheek. It powers electric currents to the neuro-pain-transmitter implanted on to my spinal cord (behind my teeth in the X-ray), to help with phantom arm pain. My left shoulder is raised due to paralysis of the left core & the the arm amputation. Hardest part of my days is to hold my head up (literally & figuratively). Paralysis of the left side of my neck, the skew spine & the fused neck make it really difficult to hold my own head up straight. The constant pain is unexplainable. I can’t actually remember what it feels like to be in a normal , pain free body 🤷🏼♀️ It’s so tempting to hate the people that did this to me 🤬 I try, rather, to use that energy to focus on getting better and staying positive 😊”

target="_blank" rel="noopener">On the day of the accident, Olivia sustained 20 serious injuries. The left hand side of her face was degloved (which is even worse than it sounds and it already sounds pretty bad). Her ear canal was punctured after parts of her shattered cheekbone went through it. Her left thumb was amputated on the site of the crash, her fingers were mangled, and a 9 cm piece of a forearm bone was ripped out and never recovered. She suffered multiple broken bones including a broken neck, ribs, collarbone, and a completely shattered shoulder blade. And these aren’t even the worst of her injuries. The top left quarter of her body is paralyzed because 4 out of 5 nerve roots were ripped out of her spinal cord. This has caused constant nerve pain that is compared to “flesh eating termites” all over her phantom limb. Over the last four years, she couldn’t even tell you how many surgeries she has had. She doesn’t even know. If you ask her to describe the pain she lives with every single day, she can’t even begin to describe it in words people would understand. And even though she has her dark days, she won’t allow what has happened to her to stop her from living as fully as possible. She lives day by day, focused on taking control of what she can and maintaining hope for the things she cannot control.

target="_blank" rel="noopener">A mere 4 months after the amputation of her left arm and just a little over a year after the accident, Olivia threw herself back into martial arts training. She was a professional Muay Thai fighter for years, but after the accident she had to relearn everything. Throughout the last few years, Olivia has trained diligently. According to her trainer @paulbusbymartialarts, Olivia will be a Kickboxing Black Belt within the next 5 years.

target="_blank" rel="noopener">WHO IS OLIVIA JACKSON? On September 5, 2015, South African stuntwoman Olivia Jackson survived a horrific accident on the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. She was directed to ride a motorcycle toward a camera vehicle to get a shot just before the camera lifted up over her head. But the camera never lifted in time, resulting in a head-on collision. Olivia sustained 20 severe injuries including a severed brachial artery, a degloved face, a punctured lung, a brachial plexus injury (when the nerve roots are ripped out of the spinal cord), serious head injuries, multiple broken bones, and a paralyzed left arm that was eventually amputated. Olivia was put in a 17-day medically induced coma for back-to-back surgeries. Against all odds, Olivia lived. Four years later, Olivia still lives in intense, chronic pain from her injuries, yet refuses to be defeated or defined by her injuries. Prior to the accident, Olivia was an international model, professional Muay Thai fighter, motocross enthusiast, and leading stuntwoman in films like Mad Max, Guardian of the Galaxy, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Today, she continues to travel the world, train martial arts, ride horses, and volunteer with disabled men, women, and children through a local equine therapy program. Olivia’s biography is being written by Shannon Nixon and will be released summer 2019.
